I believe that God will use people to help you and He work in mysterious ways and sometimes we are not able to understand why He does certain things. I always give this analogy of a 4-year old boy trying to understand what the father is doing? Sometimes it is beyond our level of intelligence.
The first time, when I was about 10 years old, I had a complicated dental surgery on my wisdom tooth that was growing sideway! At that dental centre, it was used to train young dental surgeons and I was the guinea pig!
There was a lot of blood lost, I guess the dental trainee panicked and did a bad job, although there was a senior surgeon guiding him. I must have lost lots of blood and had an out of body experience! I found myself floating and could see the dental surgeon over me!
It was a pleasant light experience floating and wondering how I can see myself without my eyes! It was a mind-boggling experience for a 10-year old boy! After my surgery, the nurses gave me that strange look because they must have thought for a short period of time they have lost me!
The second time, I was almost drowned at the seaside, I went farther down to the deeper side of the beach and the waves was strong and I was saved by my brother who pulled me out by grabbing the hair of my head!
The third time, I was swimming at a pool at my friend's condominium, I had a leg cramp and was drowning and I could see under the water, my friend swimming towards me to save me!
The fourth time, I was at the sea on my friend's boat, he accidentally dropped a long pole into the water, I was gungho and immediately dive into the water to retrieve it.
I didn't realize the currents were very strong and they swiftly swept me away and I realize there was no way I can swim against the strong currents and instinctively grabbed a rope of one of those smaller boats that were parked near the pier.
Till today I can remember clearly the rope that saved my life!
The fifth time, I was swimming at a public pool and I went to the deep end and again it was a leg cramp that caused me to struggle and I swallowed lots of chlorinated water!
I could hear the lifeguard blowing his whistle and he was coming forward to help me, but I managed to reach the side of the pool. During that drowning stage, my life was flashed across my mind like what you will see when a videotape is fast forwarding! Yes that time we were still using videotape!
The sixth time, my network marketing team had an international convention and we took time off to enjoy rafting at a river in Bali. It was fun and exciting, and we stopped to rest at a place where there was a small waterfall.
I saw many people were having fun at the waterfall, and being adventurous I went closer to the waterfall but didn't know there was a sharp dip and the water pulled me down! Luckily I was wearing a life vest and one of the guides grabbed my vest and pulled me out.
It was a traumatic experience having been in the water and being spin about like the clothes in a washing machine! I rested on the rocks, shivering and I didn't care if there were thousands of people watching, I prayed to God and thank him for saving my life again!
The seventh time, I was working as a tour leader and woke up at about 4 am for nature call, I must have drank too much water during the day! After refreshing myself a bit, the huge king-size bed was like a big pool to me, I mischievously dived into it as if I'm diving into a swimming pool. It was a freak accident, I must have slipped on the thick bed cover sheets and my head hit the corner of side desk of the bed!
When I felt the blood oozing from my head I knew it was serious damage! I went to the mirror and was shocked to see the wound on my forehead and immediately I called the operator to send an ambulance, the operator give a shriek of shock when I told her what happened!
That happened at the Hilton Hotel in San Francisco, I was sent to the Jackson Street Hospital where Bruce Lee, my grandmaster in Jeet Kune Do, was born! The doctor recommended an American Japanese plastic surgeon and he did a great job!
The plastic surgeon got my agreement to have my picture taken, so that he can show his work, the before and after photos! So that's my contribution to plastic surgery at the Jackson Street Hospital!
Come to think of it, God saved my life eight times! I was almost hit by a motorbike that was going very fast, he was very shocked how he missed me and I was very shocked too! It seems like he went through me or missed me by an inch! I must have been saved by an Angel!
I hope this sharing of my story will inspire you to reflect on how God in many ways may have intervened and helped you and sometimes without you even realizing it!
I always tell my friends to be grateful and count their blessings! God has blessed me in many ways! He saved my life 8 times! I believed he saved me for a great reason. I am very grateful and now I live to serve God and to bring as many people as possible closer to Him.
Two years ago I had this magnificent obsession to promote this wonderful worldwide movement, "To help all people to live a better and happy life, help make this world a better place, and help make world peace a reality."
This is my calling, mission and dream! And I believe with God's help, all things are possible!
God has answered my prayer with Jeunesse which is really Godsend! I've always wanted to be part of a project to help feed hungry children and to build wells where clean drinking water is desperately needed.
